About Dress for Success
Appearance plays a major role in helping women get a fair opportunity to compete in the job market. Having a professional image that is appropriate to the industry and job category in which they are seeking employment with is essential to secure a position - and to keep that position.
Dress for Success collect donated ready to wear business clothing to distribute to low-income women making the transition from public assistance to self sufficiency. Each client is assigned a volunteer personal shopper who assists them in choosing the perfect interview suit at Dress for Success' shop. If they secure the job they are invited back for a second outfit.
The clients are referred from membership not-for-profit organisations or social service agencies including domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters and job training programmes. The clients represent diverse ages, ethnicities, races, religions and sizes.
